Now Available: Authenticator App Login Option

Protecting your account is one of our top priorities. That’s why Sierra Pacific Credit Union now offers an authenticator app option for online banking logins — an added layer of security that helps safeguard your account from fraud and unauthorized access.

This enhancement is optional, easy to use, and one of the most effective ways to protect your financial information.

What Is an Authenticator App?

An authenticator app generates a unique, one-time code on your mobile device that you enter when logging into online banking. This code works in conjunction with your username and password to verify that it’s really you.
 

Why This Matters

Authenticator apps are considered one of the safest ways to protect online accounts because they:

  • Generate codes directly on your device
  • Can’t be intercepted or redirected
  • Expire quickly and can only be used once
  • Keep your account secure even if your phone number or email is compromised

What This Means for You

  • You now have the option to use an authenticator app when logging in
  • This adds protection beyond just a username and password
  • You stay in control — this feature is available now, but not required

Looking Ahead

As part of our ongoing commitment to fraud prevention, Sierra Pacific plans to gradually phase out less secure authentication methods later this year.

No immediate changes are required. We’re sharing this now so you can become familiar with the authenticator option and feel confident using it when future updates occur.
 

Before You Get Started

  • You’ll need to install an authenticator app on your phone before enabling this option
  • Popular free options include Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, and other widely used apps
  • If you’ve previously chosen to “trust” a device, you may not be prompted for an authenticator on that device — this is expected behavior

*To participate in this offer, the Skip-A-Pay form must be returned to Sierra Pacific no later than three (3) business days prior to the scheduled monthly transaction date. Your ACH will not be stopped. Your funds will be available for withdrawal in your Sierra Pacific savings account. Available for November 2025 or December 2025 qualifying loans only. Loan must be open for at least three (3) months to qualify, and members must be in good standing. Interest will accrue during the entire term of the loan, including the non-payment period.
